"Thanks Googlers for all of your super innovative work. You have changed the world. "Organize the world's information..." indeed, and so, so much more."
-Greg Bogdan - Sep 23, 2009
If only you knew how far Google is willing to go to organize our information. Have you read every TOS you agree to when you try a Google Service? Each service has about 3-5 different agreements linked within it. If you notice, for example Gmail NEVER is deleted. Just because you delete it, doesn't mean it goes away.
Google organizes all data in huge matrix databases. There are thousands upon thousands of tables of data, and every time your send a message to your friend telling him your going to meet up with him, Google stores all of this data.
Now I would say that the biggest, best, and most innovative search engine company in the world could quite easily write algorithms to compile data on quite a lot of your life. With tons of new features being added all of the time, on the business model of "The best product for free". Big brother...oh I mean Google is now doing their part in the phone market, and while there will always be those loyal Blackberry and Iphone fans, Google will offer the best phone, the best os, the best aps and short of the phone and service it self, its all free.
I think thats the main thing we have to look at above all else. "Free"
They say nothing in life is free.
And it wouldn't make much sense for a company to exist soley for the purpose of making free things for people. Granted they do have ads, but that doesn't account for add-less products...Like Sidewiki or "Big Brother - Premium Surveillance Package"...Oh, I mean Google Maps (Because MapQuest's maps didn't show your into peoples living rooms).
What about Google Health. How could that possibly be an effective way to spend their time and money. They aren't selling it. It doesn't have ads. Well, lets see...what does Google like above all else? Information. Information to be stored in their database to be picked apart over and over by thousands of different programs with millions of algorithms, resulting in Google in control of a lot of information.
Is this wrong or illegal? No. Google has never forced you to download anything of theirs or use any of their products without first requiring that you agree to a TOS.
What is the end to their persuit of information?
Maybe they use their ads to persuade an election to sway the laws of monopilisation in their favor?
Maybe the government takes control. Maybe the government has control? They should right? Patriot Act and so fourth. Well the government has already made stipulations that mandate Google, among various other companies use their information to monitor people's chatter for suspicious activities.
But you know Google. This citizen survallience program will only record terrorist activities I'm sure.
With the internet dominated, the phone market on the way, likely to be followed by television...well, you get the picture.

Is Google Going to Take Over the World?

google has the internet in the palm of their hand. They control how we attain most knowledge. Right now, google is just a company, but i may go so far as to say that it is the closest man has gotten in his imitation and striving towards the omniscience of god - not tryna be sacrilegious..just open-minded. the goal of the philosopher has always been to realize a complete and true picture of the world uninhibited by personal biases..to reach an understanding of the world that only God can have. presently, google is the best engine at organizing and relaying all recorded factual knowledge to us and usually does so in order of relevance. It has access to anything that has been posted on the internet. the human knowledge base is growing. I'm not sure if i'd say google is the most knowing thing we've created or the internet as whole is. People would not be able to access the collection of human knowledge that is the internet without the prowess of companies like google. i say good on 'em. my life is unimportant enough that i trust google with any and all of my information
ReplyDeletetryna recall everything i just tried to post:
ReplyDeletegoogle has got the whole of human knowledge in the palm of its hand. without it, the internet would be useless to most of us. in my previous attempt at a comment, i claimed that google may be man's closest attempt at imitating and realizing true knowledge of the universe - the omniscience of god. i guess the sacrilege is the reason the post failed..god and his dang power of interference..
anywhoo..i sort of retract that statement that i never had a chance to post. i'd say if anything, the internet as a whole is the closest we've come to god's omniscience. google has just been so kind as to make it easily accessible to anyone except those chinese commie bastards. they're doin a hella good job of it. and why not let their organizational prowess extend from just the internet to all other facets of human knowledge. with google recording all of human digital communication, a database of knowledge of human existence is being compiled. we just have to be sure that the company does not become or is not already corrupt. with power over all the information people hope to attain, google can easily present our naive selves with untruth as truth or reveal to all what should only be known by some.
when we rely solely on one source for information, we present an extreme vulnerability and we can only trust that the vulnerability is not exploited. as things are currently, for knowledge attainment, google is just a guide to the knowledge of others, but when we begin to rely on their extreme knowledge base, we've gotta be sure that we're not being deceived.
google is one of the greatest results of human intelligence and continues to surprise us with its ability to organize and present us with relevant information. i say good on 'em. my life is unimportant enough that i feel safe trusting them with any and all of my personal information
